The major problem with ‘Shiddat’ is that it’s an exciting idea on paper that tends to drag in execution, especially in the second half. The story is highly unrealistic at times and preposterous too, but what keeps it going is the sense of volatility and suspense. However, it’s true that in today’s world of realistic cinema, we often don’t get to see completely mad, raw and defiant love stories. This one goes there with Shiddat, but doesn’t leave you deeply moved.
No kidding when I said the music album is peppier. I wrote this entire review with Barbaadiyan in the background. The title track ends on the line “Tujhko Sazaa Aur Adaalat Banalu”, I hope half of the passion gone into writing this line was used to enhance the screenplay more. Shiddat could have been a perfect entertainer.
That said, bad is what Shiddat is not. Yes, it is rather a very long attempt to show the same old Yash Raj-themed love story, but it is a one-time watch for people who are looking for good time pass entertainment. There is comedy, romance, many contrived emotional scenes and loss, but one can sit down and watch this fairly presented film.

If love tales do not contact an emotional chord, they don’t seem to be price it, in case you are a sucker for romantic tales, particularly the frothy ones.
Director Kunal Deshmukh’s ‘Shiddat’, tugs at your coronary heart twice over, as soon as with Joginder Dhillon’s saga after which with that of Gautam. While Gautam’s love story is mild and trite, Joginder’s story is heavyweight and intense. Both tales have arcs that make your heartache.
The narrative tells us how their paths cross and about crossing borders, each actually and metaphorically. And like most love tales, ‘Shiddat’ doesn’t supply something that you simply aren’t conscious of.
But what makes the movie stand out is the putting cinematography, crisp enhancing, moderately endearing course, and most of all, the performances of its forged particularly, Sunny Kaushal and Mohit Raina. There is sincerity and keenness in what they provide to their audiences.
Sunny Kaushal along with his charismatic smile and manner has a novel mix, that reminds you of Shahid Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan.
He effortlessly shows the ‘junoon’, craziness that these actors are recognized for. He performs Joginder Dhillon, “the madly in love youth” with elan. He is the love-struck man who “suffers from perpetual happiness” and makes an attempt to cross the seven seas for his dream lady, Kartika, even, if it means stopping her marriage ceremony.
It is simple to repeat Shah Rukh Khan, however Sunny Kaushal has his tackle that, particularly when he’s on the costume retailer shopping for a costume for his love, Kartika. Sunny Kaushal has put his coronary heart and soul into his character and delivers a fab efficiency, making it inevitable so that you can recognise his potential on the marque.
On the opposite hand, is Mohit Raina enjoying Gautam, an Officer within the Indian Foreign Service. He is a romantic but pragmatic lover who after some time feels, “kismet, fate, destiny is all rubbish…”
While we see his love story crumbling, how his perspective adjustments to assist Jogi attain his vacation spot makes your coronary heart exit for him. With his intense disposition, he delivers a compelling, compassionate, and complicated character with ease.
Radhika Madan and Diana Penty are aggressive and good actresses. Radhika, as Kartika shines, particularly within the telephonic scene the place she is confused, attempting to clarify to Gautam that she is a sensible individual and never an emotional idiot.
The movie is studiously mounted, with splendid manufacturing values. Kunal Deshmukh has made the movie that concurrently conveys the assured contact of a grasp and the vitality of a newcomer desirous to show himself. While there’s nothing in frequent, ‘Shiddat’ reminds you of DDLJ and different romantic movies from the Yashraj steady.
The writing could also be frothy however the dialogues are vital, up to date, and racy.
Overall, ‘Shiddat’ will not be an overtly melodramatic movie. The narrative holds itself in good stead until the climax, however its weak and oft-seen dénouement fails to depart an affect on the finish.
